About Me

I’ve been decorating cakes for friends and family, as a hobby, for more than 25 years. My specialty is creating sugar flowers made from sugar flower paste (gum paste).  My talent is mainly working with wedding cakes and large special occasion cakes, although my smaller occasion cakes are just as yummy, fun and creative.

My Story

I am a sugar flower artist and cake designer living in the West Midlands, England. I specialize in making delicate, realistic sugar flowers to adorn cakes for weddings and other events. I currently do not operate as a business, however, I am taking steps to make this a reality.

Im a Perfectionist

I am a perfectionist, I love the beauty of nature’s colours, flowers and foliage, however, this cannot always be placed on a cake. So, I love to study flowers, take them apart and learn the curves and veining and what makes them so beautiful and alive, then choose my tools and colours to recreate those flowers in sugar.

Cake Coverings…

For covering cakes, I work mainly with rolled icing (fondant) and have some skills in using chocolate modeling paste to create cake decoration or toppers. Buttercreams are becoming more popular and taste delicious, however, are dependent on temperatures and if there is refrigeration available during the warm seasons.

A New Year, New Creations

This year will be filled with more and more sugar flowers and even more wedding cakes. I’m hoping to teach others how to achieve realistic sugar flowers in the future.

How I work

We always begin with a consultation to talk about what you are looking to achieve.  Perhaps it’s a small event, or large.  It may involve simple decorations to be created, or perhaps an extensive array of sugar flowers and decoration.  Perhaps it’s whimsical or traditional.  We sort all these questions out and determine the scope of the needs.

Next, we prepare a proposal and timeframe for your needs and agree on how this will transpire.   We then collect half (1/2) of the agreed-upon sum upfront.  The final half is then collected 2 weeks prior to delivery.

We often take pictures along the way so you can see both progress and approve the project each step of the way so there are no surprises.  Despite the planning and preparation, we aim to still surprise and delight.
